What is God saying to the world through the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah?

God is declaring that He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of their homosexual lifestyle, making them an example for all who would afterward live ungodly. He wants the world to look at what He did, wake up, and never forget that He judges such wickedness.

Les explains that the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah was not the wrath of God per se but a disciplinary action. It was an instantaneous wiping out of those wicked cities, not the prolonged suffering of the tribulation. Scripture calls them an example, and an example is meant to tell us something. Les says God destroyed them because of the homosexual lifestyle, and the world is never to forget it, though it does. God is telling the world, "Look what I've done to Sodom and Gomorrah. Look what I've done to those kind of people. Wake up!" The passage also notes that God delivered righteous Lot, who was vexed by the filthy manner of living of the wicked. Les adds that he is not being judgmental, but by the grace of God a person can be brought out of that lifestyle.
