Why did God destroy Sodom and Gomorrah?

God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah as a disciplinary action, not the wrath of God per se, because of the homosexual lifestyle of those wicked cities. It was an instantaneous wiping out, plowed under, and made an example for those who would afterward live ungodly.

Les explains that the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was not the wrath of God per se but a disciplinary action. He notes it was an instantaneous wiping out, and the cities were plowed under. They have not really proven they found Sodom and Gomorrah; some archeologists are convinced it is under the Dead Sea. Les emphasizes that the reason God destroyed them was the homosexual lifestyle, and the world is never to forget it. It is an example to those who should hereafter live ungodly. God is telling the world, look what I have done to Sodom and Gomorrah and to those kind of people, wake up. Les also points to Lot, delivered as just or righteous, who was vexed over the filthy manner of living of the wicked. He says he is not being judgmental but that but for the grace of God he could be there, and by grace one can be out of that.
