What did the Egyptians worship as gods?

In Egypt, everything became a god. The frogs were gods, the flies were gods, and the river Nile was a god. All the plagues God sent on Egypt demonstrated that these Egyptian gods were nothing, as they themselves became plagues.

Les explains that when Israel was in Egypt under the Pharaohs, everything in Egypt had become a god. The frogs were gods, the flies were gods, and the river Nile was a god. He notes that all the plagues God brought on Egypt were meant to show Egypt that their gods were nothing—in fact, those gods became a plague to them. Les also connects this to the passage about changing the glory of the uncorruptible God into images of birds, four-footed beasts, and creeping things, and he sees the same idolatrous tendency in the modern New Age movement's subtle Oriental idol worship.
