What kinds of gods did the ancient pagans worship?

Ancient pagans worshiped a variety of false gods, including female goddesses, gods of mythology, frogs, animals, and celestial bodies like the sun or moon. They knew every god except the true God until Abraham was called. They had no knowledge of the one true God, who was revealed only through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the twelve tribes of Israel.

Les explains that before Abraham, the ancients had every god they knew about except the true God. Their pagan gods were usually female goddesses, gods of mythology, frogs, animals, or the sun and moon—whatever they chose. With Abraham's call, he received knowledge of Jehovah, which passed through Isaac, Jacob, and the twelve tribes, so Israel alone had knowledge of the one true God during the period of the ancients. All other nations had nothing but their pagan gods. Les also notes that Daniel later confronted a pagan king in his splendor, declaring there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets.
