Why are wealthy Americans buying Caribbean islands as a safe escape from what is coming?
Wealthy Americans are buying Caribbean property, even whole islands, because they sense impending judgment—the handwriting on the wall—and hope to create a safe escape from what is coming. Yet the context stresses they cannot hide; the rich and mighty will try to hide from God's coming wrath but will fail.
Les explains that some of America's wealthiest people are beginning to see the handwriting on the wall and, like rats leaving a sinking ship, are buying up property in the Caribbean islands. Some are buying a whole island and building what they hope will be a safe escape for that which is to come. But Les emphasizes that they cannot hide. Scripture describes kings, great men, rich men, chief captains, mighty men, bondmen, and free men hiding in the dens and rocks of the mountains, calling for the rocks to fall on them and hide them from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from wrath. Les notes that Christendom has been lulled to sleep, avoiding any mention of the wrath of God, yet the book says that wrath is coming. Revelation 9:20 further shows that after plagues and destruction, the rest of men still repented not of their works or their worship of idols.
