Les Feldick Bible Study

Is the Holy Spirit's baptism into Christ's body limited to elite or spiritual believers?

No. By one Spirit, every believer—not only the elite or most spiritual—has been baptized into one body, the Church Universal. This invisible act of the Holy Spirit places each person into the body of Christ the moment they are saved, regardless of Jew or Gentile, bond or free.

Les explains that this is another act of God that believers never felt, with no outside manifestation; the only way we know it happened is because the Book says it did. He points to 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, where the human body is one and has many members, and so also is Christ. By one Spirit, the Holy Spirit, all believers—not just the most elite or most spiritual, which he calls man's idea—have been baptized into one body, the Church Universal, including believers from whatever corner of the globe they may be. This includes whether Jew or Gentile, bond or free, and all have been made to drink into or partake of one Spirit. Les emphasizes that by this invisible act of the Holy Spirit, every believer is placed into the body of Christ the moment they are saved, a body that will one day be His Bride. He clarifies this is positional, not sexual.

1 Corinthians 12:12

For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:13

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
