What happens when a person is saved according to Colossians 1?

At salvation, God translates a person from spiritual darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son, which is in heaven, and delivers them from the power of darkness. This is past tense; the believer becomes a member of that kingdom and will one day rule and reign with Christ when it is established on earth.

Les explains that at salvation, along with all these other things God has done on our behalf, He has translated the believer from spiritual darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son, which is in heaven. This is past tense: He has delivered us from the power of darkness. That darkness includes the power of Satan, the principalities and powers over the human race, and the little Adam with all his power. Les also connects this to the future: that same kingdom will one day come and be established on earth, and believers will be there with it, ruling and reigning with Christ, because they are now members of that kingdom by virtue of their salvation experience.
