What happens at the moment of salvation according to Colossians 1?

According to Colossians 1, at the moment of salvation the believer is translated out of darkness and placed into the kingdom of God’s dear Son, which is presently in heaven. This kingdom is not now on earth, so the believer’s citizenship is heavenly while awaiting Christ’s future return.

Les explains that Colossians 1 plainly states that at the moment of our salvation, we were translated from darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son, which is in heaven. Since the kingdom is not now on earth, Paul speaks of our citizenship as being in heaven. When Christ later returns to the earth with His kingdom, we will be with Him and come back with Him. At that time we will not be in physical bodies of reproduction or male and female; Jesus said we will be as the angels, yet we will be bodily present.
