Les Feldick Bible Study

What is the old Adamic nature according to Les?

The old Adamic nature is the nature we were born in—rebellious against God, sinful in all its appetites. It is kept in check by inhibitions and good home upbringing, but when those restraints are absent, it is let free, producing people adrift, without principles, and in trouble with the law.

Les teaches that the old Adamic nature is what Scripture calls the old Adam, the nature we are born in. It is rebellious against God and sinful in all of its appetites. He explains that people try to clean it up and keep it in check through inhibitions and what we call a good home upbringing. But when those inhibitions are not given, especially to the younger generation, that Adamic nature is let free. The result is that many become adrift, have no principles, and end up in trouble with the law. This connects to verse 3, where believers are said to be dead to the old Adam, and to the call to set affection on things above rather than on things on the earth.
