How does truly being a child of God affect a person's behavior as a citizen?
A true child of God will, for the most part, be a good citizen and not give the police department fits. That new life enhances society, though it does not make the person perfect or superior; it flows from God's power unto salvation imparted on their behalf.
Les teaches that when we are practicing believers, we are going to be good citizens. You won't find a true child of God giving the police department fits—for the most part. That same character shows up as being a good parent, grandparent, child, and teenager. He is careful to say this does not mean believers are perfect; anything but. They are not to walk around as if they are perfect or better than everybody. Rather, God's power unto salvation has imparted these things on our behalf, an imputed work God has done for us, making us different. If a community were 100% born-again believers, it would be a pretty decent place to live, though not perfect, just as no local church is perfect. The power of God unto salvation is to everyone that believeth.
