Why were all the 11 apostles willing to be martyred without fear?

The resurrection of Christ transformed the eleven apostles from fearful men into bold witnesses. Because Christ rose from the dead, they knew death could not ultimately destroy them; the invisible, immortal part would be resurrected. That truth removed fear of martyrdom and gave them hope in the power of resurrection.

Les explains that at the crucifixion the eleven disciples scattered and ran for their lives out of fear. What changed their total attitude was the resurrection. After Christ rose from the dead, Peter would no longer kowtow to a young maid or swear he never knew Him; Peter stood up to Rome. All eleven apostles, as near as Les can tell, were martyred without fear because of the truth of resurrection. The same applies to believers: we do not have to worry about what men can do to this body, because they cannot touch the invisible, immortal part, which will one day be resurrected if they kill us. This is the hope of the power of resurrection, first in salvation, when those dead in trespasses and sins are made alive.
