What was our spiritual condition as offspring of Adam before we became believers?

As offspring of Adam before believing, our spiritual condition was one of slavery: we were in a spiritual slave market, bought and sold, under the same kind of circumstances as enslaved people, and God saw it as not a pretty picture.

Les explains that in the spiritual realm we were in the same ballpark as those slaves: from their inception in Africa, across the ocean on stinking ships, into the slave market, treated worse than animals, bought and sold. As the offspring of Adam before we became believers, we were under the same kind of spiritual circumstances. God would graphically tell what He saw in every one of us, and it was not a pretty picture. But He bought us out of that slave market, set us free, cleaned us up, gave us a new wardrobe, placed us in a beautiful spiritual place to live, set our feet on a rock, and gave us hope—all we had to do was believe it. Les notes this was accomplished by God's power; buying a slave out of the Virginia market in the 1840s and 50s required money, wealth, clout, and influence.
