What role did Israel reject according to Les?
Israel was to be a light to the Gentiles and God's instrument of salvation to the ends of the earth. According to the teaching, they rejected that role through unbelief, and so the message of salvation turned to the Gentiles.
Les explains that Israel's role was to be a light to the Gentiles and to be for salvation to the ends of the earth. But when Paul preached, Israel put the word from them in unbelief, rejecting that role. Therefore Paul declared, "We turn to the Gentile." The Gentiles heard this, were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord, and as many as were ordained to eternal life. Les emphasizes that this turning to the Gentiles was according to the Lord's command, and that salvation is by believing Christ finished the work, not by human works.
