Who wrote the Gospel of Mark?
The Gospel of Mark was written by John Mark, the young man who is described as a nephew of Barnabas. He accompanied Paul and Barnabas on the first missionary journey but turned back in Asia Minor, which later caused a falling out between Paul and Barnabas.
Les teaches that John Mark, the young man who wrote the Gospel of Mark, wavered when he got under the underbelly of Asia Minor. He chickened out and went back to Jerusalem, which never got out of Paul's crawl. Later, John Mark matured and was a nephew of Barnabas. When Barnabas insisted they take John Mark along, Paul said no way because he had chickened out once. This caused Paul and Barnabas to have a falling out. God must have been on Paul's side because Barnabas disappears from view, and Silas takes his place. For the first missionary journey, it was Paul and Barnabas, and John Mark turned around and went back home.
