Where is John's Gospel in the order the Gospels were written?

John’s Gospel is the fourth of the four Gospels, and it is fourth even in the chronological order in which the Gospels were written. Matthew was written first, and John is set apart from the three Synoptic Gospels, coming after them as the fourth Gospel.

Les teaches that before beginning the Gospel of John verse by verse, he wants to make some points clear. John is the fourth of the Gospels, even in the chronological order of their writing. Matthew was written first and depicts Christ as King; Mark depicts Him as Servant; Luke depicts Him as the Son of Man. Those three are normally called the Synoptic Gospels, and though their roles are played out by the Messiah, the Son of God, it is predominantly His humanity in force. John is set apart from the three and deals with Christ as God. Les also gives a tidbit: in the three Synoptic Gospels the language is correct—He prays to the Father—but in John’s Gospel, contrary to the King James, translators have used “He prayed to the Father,” which is not the Greek. As God, He didn’t have to pray to God; He simply spoke to Him and said.
