How can you tell whether you are preaching the Gospel of the grace of God?
One sign that you are preaching the Gospel of the grace of God is being accused of teaching that people may sin freely under grace, since some will misunderstand grace as license. Yet grace is not license; God's grace is greater than any person's sin.
Les explains that very few people today even understand God's grace. He cites a book that was an exposition on a few verses in Romans, which made the statement that if you are not accused of teaching a Gospel that gives people the idea that now they can do as they please because they are under the grace of God, unless you are accused of that, you are probably not preaching the Gospel of the grace of God. Paul himself said he was falsely accused of preaching that just because God's grace is great, go ahead and sin as you wish. But that is not what grace means. Les says grace is not license. On the other hand, very few comprehend that the grace of God is greater than any person's sin; it is always greater. Barnabas saw this grace, and these Gentiles had come out of immoral idolatry, yet God saved them by His grace.
