Why should we thank God for the Apostle Paul?

We should thank God for Paul because he refused to yield to pressure from Jerusalem leaders who tried to stop his ministry to Gentiles, so the truth of the gospel might continue with Gentile believers. By staying true to his commission, he preserved the Gospel of grace for Gentiles, including us.

Les explains that Paul writes to his Galatian Gentile converts about the Jerusalem leaders, the twelve and other elders, who wanted to put Paul down and stop his ministry among the Gentiles. They subjected him to pressure and tried to refute and contradict him, but Paul says he did not give in, not for an hour—or as we would say, not for a minute. He withstood that pressure so the truth of the Gospel might continue with the Gentiles. If those Jewish believers had succeeded in stopping Paul, our chances for salvation would be none. Therefore, every one of us ought to thank the Lord that the Apostle Paul was true to his commission of taking the Gospel to our Gentile forefathers as well as to us.
