Did Paul know his letters would become part of Scripture?

Paul did not, at that point, recognize or understand that his letters would become part of Scripture and be studied two thousand years later. He did know, however, that what he wrote to the congregation in Corinth was inspired by the Holy Spirit, making it the Word of God.

Les explains that at this point Paul had not recognized or understood that his letters would become part of Scripture, nor that people would study them 2,000 years later. But Paul knew that what he wrote to the little congregation in Corinth was inspired by the Holy Spirit as he wrote it. So this was not just man's idea; it is the Word of God. Les also notes that verse 38 makes knowing the Word a matter of choice: if you want to know what the Word says, you come into it, read it, and study it; if you do not want to know, God gives you that prerogative.
