What did the teacher identify as the epitome or high point of God's grace poured out on a sinful man in Acts 9?
The high point of God’s grace poured out on a sinful man is God’s grace rising to the occasion for Saul of Tarsus. Though Saul was like a raging bull, energized by Satan and opposing Christ, God did not remove him; instead, grace was poured out on him.
Les explains that Saul was fervent, sincere, and devout, yet he was like a raging bull in the energy he put forth to stamp out believing Jews who had trusted Christ as their Messiah. If we had been in God’s place, we would have simply rubbed him out and put him away. The Sovereign God could have removed Saul of Tarsus and left him nothing but a grease spot or a memory. But God’s grace rises to the occasion. Les says he likes to teach this slowly so it sinks in: here is the epitome, the very high point, of the pouring out of God’s grace on a sinful man. In his rebellion, Saul was energized by the devil, by Satan, opposing everything Jesus had tried to do and under Satanic power.
