Does the New Testament Church have an earthly headquarters?
The New Testament Church has no earthly headquarters. Scripture never designates Antioch or Jerusalem as its headquarters, even though Antioch was a fountainhead from which the Gospel went to Gentiles. The Church today is headquartered not on earth but in heaven. Under Judaism, Jerusalem was the headquarters of God's dealings with Israel.
Les teaches that all through Israel's religious history, Jerusalem was the headquarters of God's operation. But for the New Testament Church, there is no earthly headquarters; that is the vast difference. The Church today is headquartered not on earth, but in heaven. Even though Antioch was more or less the fountainhead from which the Gospel went out to the Gentiles, Scripture never places Antioch as the headquarters of the New Testament Church, nor is Jerusalem. There is no headquarters of the New Testament Church. Under Judaism, Jerusalem was to be understood as where God dealt with His people, unlike the northern kingdom's counterfeit worship on Mount Gerizim.
