Can anyone fully understand the gospel, or is it taken by faith?
No human being can fully understand the Gospel’s power; it is so complex that it must be taken by faith. Scripture presents it as simple enough to believe: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.
Les explains that the Gospel is so plain that we are simply to believe it. Salvation is not in the Law, not in works, not in repentance and baptism, but in believing the Gospel. He says it is too simple for most people, yet the power of this Gospel is so complex that he cannot understand it, and he does not think any other human being can either. Therefore, we take it by faith. The Gospel delivered is that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.
