Is being saved only about not going to hell?

No. Salvation is not only about avoiding hell. Ephesians 2 says believers were dead in trespasses and sins, but God made them alive by grace through faith, not of works. Verse 10 then says, "For we are His workmanship," showing salvation includes God's ongoing workmanship.

Les explains that Paul writes to believers at Ephesus, reminding them they were dead in trespasses and sins, but God made them alive. Les emphasizes that salvation is by grace through faith—believing, nothing else—not of works, lest any man boast. Then Les stresses that it does not stop there: we are not saved just to sigh with relief that we are not going to hell anymore. That, he says, is only a small part. The very next verse declares, "For we are His workmanship," showing that salvation includes God's ongoing workmanship in the believer.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
