Why are genuine believers today getting fewer every week?

Les explains that although there may be a lot of talk and preaching today, the real issue is how many are genuine believers, and that number is getting fewer every week. The reason given is that so much false teaching is coming in, and people are flocking to it. He notes that people will always flock to the false before they will the truth. This connects with Peter's clear statement that there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved, and there is no salvation in any other. Les points out that many good, sincere folk follow a cult leader, a Buddha, a Muhammad, or whatever, but the verse is narrow and brings it down to only one way. For the Jew at the time Peter was dealing with, they had to recognize that Jesus was the Christ, and only Jesus.
