What did the Sadducees believe about the resurrection and eternal life?

The Sadducees denied any resurrection of the dead and rejected a life hereafter. They believed the only eternalness was passing life on to the next generation, which they considered eternal life. They saw nothing of a resurrection of the dead.

Les explains that the Sadducees were a group of Jewish religious leaders who did not believe in a resurrection of the dead. They also did not believe in a life hereafter. The only eternalness they could conceive of was that they would pass it on to the next generation, and that was what they thought of as eternal life. They saw nothing of a resurrection of the dead. Because Peter and John and the rest began to proclaim the resurrection of Christ and the hope of resurrection for other believers, this caused a hornet's nest.
