What was Peter trying to convince Israel about in Acts 2?

Peter was preaching to the nation of Israel to convince them that the One they had crucified was indeed the Christ, their King, and their Messiah. He sought to get this truth across to them. Many were convicted, and about 3,000 were added on the day of Pentecost.

Les teaches that Peter has been preaching to the nation of Israel and trying to get across to them that the One they crucified was indeed the Christ, their King, their Messiah. Many of them were convicted, and verse 41 records that 3,000 were added on the day of Pentecost. Then in verses 42 through 46 they sold everything they owned and put it into a common kitty. By verse 47 they were praising God and having favor with all the people. Les connects this to true Christianity, noting that a true Christian does not become contentious just for the sake of being contentious, though we contend for the faith and stand for what we feel is the truth.
