What does it mean that Scripture is progressive revelation?
Progressive revelation means God does not reveal everything at once. He did not unload all truth in Genesis, the Old Testament, or even His earthly ministry. Instead, as He sees fit, He reveals certain truths over time, and believers must discern what is revealed and when.
Les teaches that Scripture is a progressive revelation because God doesn't unload everything back in Genesis, doesn't put everything in the Old Testament, and doesn't even tell everything in His earthly ministry. As He sees fit, He reveals certain truths, and it is up to us to discern what and when they are. In the context, Peter at the end of his life recognizes that Paul now has answers to questions Peter himself still cannot quite comprehend. The Apostle's Doctrine at Acts 2 included none of the revelations given to Paul later, illustrating that God reveals truth over time rather than all at once.
