What do hangers on in the church want from church?
Hangers-on in the church are like the mixed multitude: unbelievers who merely hang around. They want to be part of the social environment and enjoy the good things, such as the music. However, they do not want the nitty-gritty of studying Scripture or living a testimony for Christ.
Les explains that many church members have never experienced salvation, and he compares them to the Old Testament mixed multitude that came out of Egypt with Israel. These hangers-on are unbelievers who are just hanging on to see what will happen. They want to be part of the social environment of the church and to enjoy the good things, including the music. But they avoid the nitty-gritty of studying the Bible and actually living a testimony for Christ. True born-again believers are different because salvation changes them.
