Les Feldick Bible Study

What do church hangers-on want and avoid?

Church hangers-on, likened to the mixed multitude, want to be part of the church’s social environment and its good things, enjoying the music. They avoid the nitty-gritty of studying this book and actually living a testimony for Christ, remaining unbelievers who merely hang on to see what happens.

Les explains that true born-again believers are different from false professors, and many church members have never experienced salvation. He compares them to Israel coming out of Egypt, where a mixed multitude of unbelievers simply hung on to see what would happen. In the same way, many so-called Christians are hangers-on: they want to be part of the social environment of the church and all the good things, and they like to enjoy the music. But they avoid the nitty-gritty of studying this book and the nitty-gritty of actually living a testimony for Christ.
