What does the flesh want in the Galatian churches?

In the Galatian churches, the flesh wants legalism and the Law. It desires to put believers back under law-keeping, moving them from the Spirit to the flesh. This impulse belongs to the old Adamic nature, which craves being under some kind of law rather than resting in the Gospel by faith plus nothing.

Les explains that the flesh in the Galatian churches wants legalism, that is, the Law. He ties this to Galatians 3:3, where Paul asks if they are so foolish that, having begun in the Spirit by Paul's Gospel through faith plus nothing, they now think they can move into a deeper spiritual life by the flesh. Les says this desire for law is just part of the old Adamic nature, which wants to be under some kind of law. Believers, however, have been delivered from the Law, an administration of death, so that they should serve in newness of spirit and not in the oldness of the letter. The remedy is to believe the Gospel.
