Why did Les reject Gallup’s 60 percent professing-Christian figure?
He rejected it because Scripture shows God is calling out a people for His name—a small percentage, not the whole world. Even in the Bible belt, 60 percent are not Bible-believing Christians. Christianity has always been a small remnant, and that has not changed.
Les explains that God never instructed Paul, Barnabas, or Silas to win the whole world. In Acts 15, James said God is calling out a people for His name, which does not imply 99 or 100 percent but rather "the few." Les says Christianity has always been a small percentage, so the Gallup poll claiming 60 percent of Americans are professing Christians is a joke. He adds that even 60 percent of the Bible belt are not Bible-believing Christians, let alone vast areas of the country with very little. This small percentage has not changed.
