What was Moses' position in Egypt before he led the children of Israel out of bondage?
Before leading Israel out, Moses held the position of second greatest man in Egypt, just under Pharaoh, wielding power and clout. He believed he could deliver the children of Israel from bondage into freedom and back to a relationship with their God.
Les teaches that Moses’ position in Egypt was second only to Pharaoh; he was the second greatest man and just under Pharaoh. He had the power and clout, as he thought, to lead the children of Israel out of bondage, into freedom, and back to a relationship with their God. At this point Moses becomes a man of faith. He supposed his brethren would have understood that God by His hand would deliver them, but they understood not; Israel would not buy it. The next day he tried to set two striving Hebrews at one again, but the one doing wrong threw him away, saying, “Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?” Les sees a parallel to Jesus coming unto His own, whom they should have accepted, but they said, “Away with Him, crucify Him.” Then Moses fled and was a stranger in the land of Midian, where he begat two sons.
