Did the disciples in Acts 1 receive a timetable?

No. According to Acts 1, it was not for the disciples to know the times or seasons; they were given no timetable. Instead of a schedule, the Lord promised them power when the Holy Spirit came upon them, making them witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the uttermost parts of the earth.

Les explains that in Acts chapter 1, verse 8, the Lord tells the disciples that it is not for them to know the times, according to the previous verse. Even though they do not know the time, He tells them this much: "you shall receive power." Les points out that "power" is the crucial word in this verse, and he suggests underlining it or putting it in your notes. The promise is that they shall receive power after the Holy Ghost, or the Holy Spirit, is come upon them, which Les notes will happen in ten days on Pentecost. The result is that they shall be witnesses unto Him both in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and in the uttermost parts of the earth. This fits the larger point Les is making about the confusion of the Scriptures, with over a thousand denominations in America alone that just about none of them agree with each other, and his counsel that the only thing you can do is get into the Book and see what the Word really says, rather than going by what any man says or building a following.

Acts 1:7

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

Acts 1:8

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
