What did the disciples ask Jesus in Acts 1:6?

On the Mount of Olives, with the Eleven and Judas gone, the disciples asked Jesus whether He would at that time restore again the kingdom to Israel. They were asking about bringing Israel’s kingdom back on the scene a second time, a kingdom once glorious under David and Solomon.

Les explains that this verse is a good example of why careful reading matters, because the two words “restore again” make all the difference. Those words point to something that had existed in the past. The disciples were asking Jesus if He would now bring the kingdom back to Israel for a second time. Les notes that Israel had a kingdom they were proud of and gloried in under David and Solomon.
