Why is the derision from the Old Testament being seen in our own day?

Because Israel rejected everything, the entire Old Testament prophetic program—including the derision—was pushed out into the future. That rejection postponed its fulfillment, so what Scripture foretold is now being seen in our own day and time, as the world experiences derision and the coming wrath of God.

Les explains that since Israel was rejecting everything, everything was pushed out into the future, including the derision, because we are seeing it now in our own day and time. He says the world is in derision and in a horrible dilemma, so that even those who know nothing of Scripture but watch the news must conclude something is terribly wrong. As an example, he mentions missionary friends who worked in Rwanda and a whole congregation of believers that was massacred, urging prayer for believers in the midst of it. Then verse 5 gives the order of the Old Testament prophetic program in outline: after they had rejected their king, God will speak unto the nations of the world not in love, mercy, and grace, but in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure. Les teaches that God will pour out all the wrath and vexation He can during what we know as the Tribulation, which is described graphically in the book of Revelation. So the derision being seen now is tied to Israel's rejection and the outworking of that prophetic program.
