What does God promise to do for scattered Israel in Ezekiel 37:21?
God promises to take the children of Israel from among the heathen wherever they have gone, gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land. He will make them one nation upon the mountains of Israel, with one king, no longer divided into two nations or kingdoms.
Les explains that Ezekiel 37 first presents two sticks: one for Judah and the children of Israel his companions, and one for Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and all the house of Israel his companions. This pictured the divided nation—the northern kingdom and the southern kingdom. God says He will take the stick of Joseph in Ephraim’s hand and the tribes of Israel his fellows and put them with the stick of Judah, making them one stick, no longer a divided kingdom but once again a singular kingdom. Then in verse 21 God tells Ezekiel to say to the Jews asking the question: thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land. He will make them one nation upon the land, upon the mountains of Israel; one king shall be king to them all; they shall no more be two nations, neither be divided into two kingdoms any more at all. Les also notes that David my servant shall be king over them, and they shall have one shepherd; they shall dwell in the land given unto Jacob; and God will make a covenant of peace with them.
And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
