What happened to the Kingdom that God established under David and Solomon?
The Kingdom established under David and Solomon reached a pinnacle of glory unlike anything the world had seen, then faded off the scene. Because it was a real, political, earthly Kingdom under a King, the disciples later asked the Lord whether He would restore it again.
The teaching explains that the Kingdom which began with the nation of Israel under David and Solomon reached a pinnacle of glory such as the world had never seen up to that time, then faded off the scene. It recalls Bathsheba coming and seeing Solomon's glory; as much as she had heard, it was not half of what she saw. This was not an ethereal, spiritualized Kingdom but a real, political, earthly Kingdom under the authority of a king. Jesus spoke of Himself as a greater than Solomon, and the disciples asked the Lord if He would restore the Kingdom again.
