Does Les claim to be a formally educated theologian?
No. He explicitly states he is not a degreed, educated theologian, describing himself instead as more like the average Sunday school teacher. He says he does not claim any deep theological background, but believes the Lord gave him a gift to teach it in a way common folk can understand.
Les explains that when people write to him, he is glad they do not try to make him something more than he is. He tells his audience, “I'm not a degreed, educated theologian or anything like that.” He compares himself to the average Sunday school teacher, saying he does not claim any deep theological background. He adds that he feels the Lord has given him the gift of teaching it in a way that common folk can understand, and that this is what makes it work.
