Les teaches that during the forty days between His resurrection and ascension, Jesus was speaking especially to the eleven apostles concerning the Kingdom. He explains that this is the one Kingdom in Scripture, the Kingdom that will be set upon this earth, where Christ will rule as King of kings and Lord of lords. Jesus spoke to them of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God and their role in it. That included the promise from Matthew 19 that they would sit upon twelve thrones ruling the twelve tribes of Israel. This Kingdom expectation filled the eleven, and it drove Peter in the early days after Pentecost to preach to Israel that the One they crucified was indeed their King.
