What happened to the net full of fish in John's eighth sign?
In the eighth sign, the net became full of fish, yet it did not break. Not a single fish was lost. This contrasts with Luke 4, where the net broke and fish were lost, and it pictures God's future regathering of Israel, where none will be lost.
Les explains that the eighth sign advances on previous signs. At the marriage of Cana, there was no joy and everything was empty, but by the eighth sign there is a net full of fishes. Even though it was so full that under ordinary circumstances it would have broken, it did not break, and not a fish was lost. This is a picture of the regathering of Israel, as seen in Ezekiel 37. When God gets ready to regather the children of Israel, the net will not break, and He will not lose one or two. This contrasts with Luke 4, when Jesus told the disciples to let their net down on the other side of the boat; they did, and it was so full that it broke, and they lost their fish.
