Why does Les Feldick want to motivate his students to study?
He wants students to study so they do not merely leave saying that is what the teacher said; he wants them able to study the Word. If he motivates them to study, he has accomplished his purpose, because the Word is thrilling and beats television.
Les explains that the true mark of a good teacher is the ability to motivate students to study. His purpose is not to have listeners simply leave and say, "Well, that's what Les said." Instead, he wants them to be able to study the Word themselves. He adds that the Word is thrilling—so thrilling that, except for the 30-minute broadcast, it has television beat hollow.
