Are many of Paul's teachings absent from the Old Testament, Jesus' earthly ministry, and early Acts?
Yes. Many of Paul's teachings in his epistles are not found in the Old Testament, in Christ's earthly ministry, or in the early book of Acts. These truths appear in Paul's letters, and readers should compare them with the Gospels to see the distinction, while not discarding the rest of the Bible.
Les explains that he will take points Paul brings out in his epistles and have listeners keep them in mind, so that when they go back to the Gospels they realize none of this is back there. He says it all comes to a head. You do not throw the rest of the Bible away in order to study Paul, but you must understand that so many things Paul brings out in his letters are not back there in the Old Testament, or even in Christ's earthly ministry, or in the early book of Acts. He then starts with I Corinthians chapter 15, the first four verses, urging constant reminding and comparison.
