Where in the Bible are the two absolutes of blood and faith found together?

The two absolutes—without the shedding of blood there is no remission, and without faith it is impossible to please God—are found together in Romans 3:25. That verse joins the requirement of blood for forgiveness with the requirement of faith for pleasing God, showing both must be brought together.

Les explains that there are at least two absolutes we can never fool with, detour, or compromise. The first is Hebrews 9:22: without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin. The second is Hebrews 11:6: without faith it is impossible to please God. Les then points back to Romans 3:25, where both absolutes are mentioned in the same verse. He says we have to bring the two together, and there they are in one verse.

Romans 3:25

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

More Questions

Why are both the shedding of blood and faith needed for salvation?

In the verse 'Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood,' there are two things—propitiation through His blood and faith—and these cannot be separated, because without the shedding of blood there is no remission and without faith there is no salvation.

Why do we place faith in Jesus' blood?

Faith in Christ's blood is for the remission of past sins and, through God's forbearance, to declare His righteousness at this time.
