What are the two absolutes in Hebrews that cannot be compromised?

Hebrews identifies two non-negotiable absolutes: without the shedding of blood there is no remission, and without faith it is impossible to please Him. These cannot be detoured around, gone over, or under; they must be faced head on. They are God’s unchanging requirements from day one.

Les explains that many today dislike the blood aspect of the Gospel, but it cannot be compromised or turned away from, because it is one of the absolutes of God’s program from day one. He repeatedly takes his classes back to those two verses in Hebrews. The first absolute is that without the shedding of blood there is no remission. The second, in the very next chapter, Hebrews chapter 11, is that without faith it is impossible to please Him. These cannot be detoured around, gone over, or gone under; they must be faced head on. The same passage ties Christ’s worthiness to His being slain and redeeming us to God by His blood out of every kindred, tongue, people, and nation.

Hebrews 9:22

And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
