When did Peter write 1 Peter?
Peter wrote 1 Peter shortly before his martyrdom, a long time after he first preached in the early Acts. It was not written in the early period of his preaching; it comes from the end of his life and ministry.
Les explains that Peter writes this epistle just shortly before he is martyred. This is a long time after he first preached back in the early Acts. In 1 Peter 1:18-19, Peter reminds his readers that they were not redeemed with corruptible things like silver and gold, from their vain conversation received by tradition from their fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. Les connects that redemption language back to Exodus chapter 12.
