Will God protect and provide for the Jews fleeing Jerusalem at the midpoint of the Tribulation?
Yes. Just as God protected and provided for the Jews in the wilderness after Egypt, He will protect and provide for the Jews escaping the environs of Jerusalem at the midpoint of the Tribulation. This group is a cross-section of society—men, women, young women, and children—not the 144,000.
Les teaches that this is analogous to Israel’s escape out of Egypt, with much of it a parallel. Just as God protected and provided for the Jews in the wilderness, He is going to protect and provide for these escaping Jews coming out of the environs of Jerusalem at the midpoint of the Tribulation. This is not the 144,000 but a cross-section of any society: men, women, young women, and children fleeing Jerusalem. They are told to flee to the mountains in Judea, and because time is of the essence, the one on the housetop must not come down to take anything out of his house. The retired, well-to-do individual may have antiques or beautiful furniture, but he will not have time or opportunity to take those things. The working-class agricultural worker in the field must not return to take his clothes; he had better just take the clothes on his back and get out of Jerusalem.
