Where will the Antichrist come from according to Daniel 9:26?
The Antichrist, identified as the prince that shall come, will come out of the empire that destroyed Jerusalem and the temple in 70 A.D. That empire was Rome, so he will arise from a revived Roman Empire, which is seen reappearing through the European community.
Les explains that Daniel 9:26 first speaks of Messiah being cut off after the sixty-two weeks. Then the prophecy turns to the people of the prince that shall come, who would destroy the city. Les teaches that this prince is the Antichrist, and he will come out of the empire that destroyed the temple and Jerusalem in 70 A.D., which was Rome. Therefore, Scripture anticipates a revived Roman Empire at the end time. Les points out that the Roman Empire is coming back on the scene through the European community, and he mentions a currency logo depicting a beast and a woman as spoken of in Revelation.
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
