How many temples has Israel had, and what is coming next?

Israel has had two temples in its history: Solomon's temple, built around 960 B.C., and the second temple, rebuilt by Ezra after the Babylonian captivity and later remodeled and enlarged by Herod the Great. A third temple is coming on the scene, identified as the tribulation temple.

Les explains that Israel's history includes two past temples and a third yet to come. The first was Solomon's, built around 960 B.C. The second was rebuilt by Ezra after the Babylonian captivity, but it was makeshift compared to Solomon's. Herod the Great later remodeled and enlarged it, and that was the temple at Christ's first Advent, the one the disciples spoke of in Matthew 24. The third temple is about to come on the scene; Daniel refers to it as the tribulation temple, where the individual will stand in the holy place.
