Why will false teachers be so successful in the tribulation?
False teachers will be successful in the tribulation because iniquity will abound, and as calamities fall, people will grasp for anything. Scripture warns that false prophets have a heyday when deception goes unchecked, and false teaching has opposed Christianity from its earliest days.
Les explains that Scripture constantly warns of false prophets, not only in the tribulation but also during the church age. Christianity had barely begun when Paul established churches, and false teachings immediately arose, forcing him to write Galatians because Jewish false teachers insisted Gentiles must keep the Law and be circumcised. False teaching has worked against Christianity from day one. In the tribulation, as all the calamities fall and people grasp for just something, false teachers will have a heyday. Because iniquity shall abound, and the only deterrent to wickedness today is the believer, the Church, deception will flourish unchecked when that influence is not present.
