Where did Jesus and his disciples go after leaving the temple in Matthew 24?
After leaving the temple area in Matthew 24, Jesus and His disciples went to the Mount of Olives. The context indicates they probably crossed the Kidron Valley and then came up to the Mount of Olives, where Jesus spoke to the twelve about the temple’s coming destruction.
Les explains that Jesus had left the temple area and probably went across the Kidron Valley. As they got up to the Mount of Olives, they looked back, and Jesus said to the twelve, “You see all these things? They’re all going to be destroyed. It’s all going to be taken down, one stone after another.” He notes that verse 3 confirms they are definitely on the Mount of Olives.
And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
