Les Feldick Bible Study

What is the definition of grace as an attribute of God?

Grace is the attribute of God capable of pouring out undeserved favor and mercy on sinners, including the sons of Adam. It stands in contrast to law: believers today are not under law but under grace, and this favor flows from the love poured out at the cross.

Les explains that grace is not the concept most people have. God does not expect us never to fall, and when we do, He is right there ready to pick us up and put us on our way. Les points out that Paul refuses to frustrate the grace of God by saying he has to do this because the law says so. Today we are not under the law but under grace. Grace is that attribute of God capable of pouring out undeserved favor and mercy on sinners like you and I, sons of Adam, all because of the love poured out at the cross. That was love epitomized and as great an act of love as has ever been done, because He loved us as sinners, undeserving. In verse 21, if righteousness comes by law or legalism, then Christ is dead in vain.
